Arbitrum
Arbitrum is a type of technology known as an optimistic rollup. It allows Ethereum smart contracts to scale by passing messages between smart contracts on the Ethereum main chain and those on the Arbitrum second layer chain.
Quick Facts
- Arbitrum is a Layer 2 blockchain
- Arbitrum is an Optimistic Rollup, piggy backing on Ethereum, using their consensus mechanism
- Arbitrum is is an Ethereum scaling solution; it has a theoretical limit of 4,500 Transactions Per Second (TPS)
- Optimism has an average Cost Per Transaction (CPT) of $0.62 for sending ETH, and $0.86 for token swaps
- Optimism does not have a native coin, and according to one of its founders they do not plan on releasing one.
